Tariffly Privacy Policy

Tariffly is a Shopify app that marks up the prices of the products you choose, for example to cover import tariffs, and can put the original prices back later. It is made by DerMar Consulting Group LLC, doing business as ForgeWorks (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app reads from your store, what it keeps, what it changes, and how to have your data deleted. It also covers our website, trytariffly.getforgeworks.com.

Your customers’ data

Tariffly does not read or keep your customers’ personal data. It has no access to customers, orders, carts or checkout. That is why Shopify’s customer data requests (customers/data_request and customers/redact) have nothing to return or delete.

Permissions the app asks for

  • write_products: to read and update variant prices, and to add or remove the tariffly.notice note on products a rule re-priced.
  • read_inventory: to read each variant’s country of origin, which country-of-origin rules use to choose products.

What we keep, in detail

  • Store access. Your store’s myshopify.com domain, the access and refresh tokens Shopify issues when you install the app, the permissions granted, and when the tokens expire. The app uses store-level access only, so it does not keep the names or email addresses of your staff.
  • Tariff rules. Each rule’s name, the wording shoppers see, the percentage or flat amount, what it targets (product or collection IDs, or country codes), and whether it is on.
  • Price records. For every variant a rule re-priced: the product and variant IDs, the original price, the price we set, and when. These records are what make Revert exact. They are kept until you revert the rule, or until your store’s data is deleted.
  • Settings and job status. Whether the storefront note is on, and the progress, counts and any error messages of the most recent apply or revert, including the rule’s name.
  • Earlier version. If your store used the first version of Tariffly, we may still hold a record of the hidden fee product it created. The current version deletes that product from your store the first time it loads.

How we use it

Only to run Tariffly: to apply and revert your rules, show you what changed, and work out which plan features your store can use. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or combine it with data from other sources.

Billing

Paid plans are billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice. We never see your payment details. Shopify tells the app whether your store has an active Tariffly subscription.

Website analytics and cookies

Our website trytariffly.getforgeworks.com, and the public privacy and terms pages on tariffly.getforgeworks.com, use Google Analytics to count visits and see how people find Tariffly. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) and sends Google your IP address, browser details and the pages you view. On tariffly.getforgeworks.com we send only the page path, never the rest of the address. Google Analytics does not run inside the app in your Shopify admin, and we do not use advertising cookies. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with Google’s opt-out add-on.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your data. We share it only with the providers that run the service: Shopify, the platform the app runs on; our hosting provider, whose servers run the app and its database; and Google, for the website analytics described above. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

  • When you uninstall Tariffly, we delete its access tokens for your store straight away.
  • About 48 hours later Shopify sends us a shop/redact request. We then delete everything else we hold for your store: tariff rules, price records, settings, job status, and any records from the earlier version.
  • Deleted data can remain in our routine database backups until those backups expire.
  • You can ask us to delete your store’s data at any time by emailing info@getforgeworks.com.

Revert your rules before you uninstall. Once the app is removed it can no longer restore your prices, and once your data is deleted we no longer have the original prices either.

Security

The app and website are served only over HTTPS. Your store data is kept in our database, used only by the app and by the people who operate it. The app asks only for the two permissions listed above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to how we use it. Email info@getforgeworks.com and we will reply within 30 days.

Children

Tariffly is a tool for businesses and is not directed to children under 16.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
