Tariffly Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 27, 2026
Tariffly ("the App") is a Shopify app that lets merchants add a configurable surcharge (for example, an import tariff) to their orders. This policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Information we collect
The App stores only the minimum data needed to function:
- Shop information — your
myshopify.comdomain and the access token issued when you install the App. - Surcharge settings — the surcharge rules you create (amount, label, targeting), stored against your shop.
The App does not collect or store customer personal data such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or shipping addresses. To calculate a surcharge it reads only cart contents (products and prices) at the time of checkout; this information is not retained.
How we use information
Data is used solely to operate the App: to apply your surcharge rules to carts, to create and reuse the fee line items required to display the surcharge, and to bill for the App through Shopify's Billing API.
Data sharing
We do not sell or share your data with third parties. The App communicates only with Shopify's APIs to provide its functionality.
Data retention and deletion
When you uninstall the App, your session is removed. In line with Shopify's privacy requirements, the App also responds to the mandatory compliance webhooks: customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact. Because the App stores no customer personal data, the customer topics have nothing to return or delete; shop/redact permanently deletes your shop's surcharge rules and any remaining session data.
Security
The App is served over HTTPS and access tokens are stored securely. We request only the access scopes required for the App to function.
